We had been looking for a mate for Echo with Ann Kilminster's help for around a year and had been looking at pedigrees of possible dogs that would be compatible with her. When me (Courtney) and mum saw Jacob in the show ring we fell in love. We thought he looked absolutely stunning and just oozed personality and was just what we were looking for. We cannot thank Gill Smitherman enough for allowing us to use Jacob which has given us our beautiful boy Murphy.
Echo was finally mated to the gorgeous Jacob in May 2009, nearly 3 months after she was due to come into season. She gave birth on 22nd July to 7 black boys and 7 black girls. Unfortunately one of the girls sadly passed away at 10 days old leaving us with 6 of each. Echo was a wonderful mum much like her mother Willow had been.
We decided on tree theme for the litter as we had liked the name Willowswind Weeping Willow from the last litter and thought it would be nice to carry this on. We also are surrounded by trees and have 3 Willow trees in the garden.
We had decided before they were born that we were going to keep a boy from this litter as when we lost our male golden retriever a few years before the household had not seemed quite the same since and my dad had decided it was about time the male to female ratio was evened up slightly. (Even all the cats were girls).
And so arrived Murphy - Willowswind Whispering Elm ,and hence our love of showing blossomed. He along with his sister Willowsind Summer Sorrel are shown and handled by me, Courtney. Both Willowsind Mulberry Acer (Ted) and Willowsind Black Bur Oak (Rafiki) have been lightly shown at open shows and the occasional championship show. Rafiki is also the face of a new business venture for his owners in Devon, Groomed to Pawfection.
